National Orientation Agency (NOA) has flagged off a nationwide campaign against fuel scooping in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Director General of the Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, was in Lambata, Gurara local government of Niger state on Friday to personally address community stakeholders and members and to sensitise them on the dangers of the act to the people and country.
He emphasised the values of empathy and concern which citizens must show to those whose goods were lost in an accident and their own personal safety.
The agency has employed a multi-stakeholder approach including the traditional rulers, tanker union, security agencies, youth and women leaders to foster a new sense of responsibility among the citizens so as to curb the trend of scooping fuel from tankers during accident or other emergency that usually lead to loss of lives and properties.
The campaign will be carried out in all the 36 states and 774 local governments in Nigeria.
