The remains of Hajia Maryam Olabisi Yusuf, Mother of the Director, Digital Media of Voice of Nigeria VON, Hajia Sani, has been laid to rest in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.
Late Hajia Maryam was buried after Janazah prayers presided over by Chief Imam of Idi-Ape, Imam Salihu Ibn Bashar.
Earlier, Chief Imam of Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, Shaikh Muhammad Shafi’i, had led other Islamic Clerics in a special prayer for the repose of the soul of the deceased, describing death as inevitable to every living soul.
He charged Muslims to always prepare for death by aligning their worship with good deeds to earn Allah’s mercy both on earth and in the hereafter.
Speaking on her mother’s demise, Hajia Sani said she took solace in the fact that she is not alone to mourn the loss as all family members gathered from far and wide to bid the quintessential “iya-ibeji” farewell.
Hajia Sani pointed out that her late mother would forever be remembered as a peacemaker, good cook and a devout Muslim who lived a life worthy of emulation.
She maintained that the legacy of their late mother would forever be sustained devoid of belligerence, rancour and acrimony.
Also, eldest son of the deceased, Mallam Muhammad Nasir identified the late matriarch as an epitome of motherhood.
Late Hajia Maryam Yusuf died in the early hours of today at Family Care MultiClinic in Abuja at the age of 79.
She is survived by many children, grandchildren and great grand-children.
