Kwara State Government has alerted that the state is likely to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorm from today, Wednesday 30th July as forecasted Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
This is contained in a statement by the Director of Public Orientation, Kwara State Ministry of Communications, Agboola Olarewaju in Ilorin
 Mr Olanrewaju advised those living close to rivers sides and occupants of riverine areas to relocate upstream with immediate effect, to avoid loss of lives and property.
He also urged members of the public to be mindful of their movements from today and avoid going out whenever it is about to rain.
He appealed to them to remove electric appliances from sockets, when going out, to avert power surge and thunder related damages to gadgets, consequent upon the expected heavy rain and thunderstorm.
Mr Olanrewaju confirmed that Kwara State Government, is currently dredging Asa river while the State Ministry of Environment has also embarked on clearing of drainages within the metropolis, to avoid floodings.
He commended Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq led administration, for prioritising the well-being and comfort of the people of the state and tasked the general public to complement government efforts at taking Kwara State to greater heights.
