Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has been commended for his proactive intervention in relocating the Kwara State College of Nursing Sciences, Oke-Ode (KWCONOO), to Ilorin.
This is aimed at safeguarding the lives of students, staff, and to prevent disruption in the institution’s academic calendar.
Chairman, Kwara State House of Assembly Committee on Education and Human Capital Development, Hon. Mohammed Baba Salihu, gave the commendation, during a solidarity visit to the College’s temporary campus at the Institute of Technology (I.O.T), Mini Campus of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Hon Baba Salihu representing Okuta-Yashikira Constituency said his visit was assess how students and staff have settled into their new learning environment following the unfortunate incident that occurred at Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
The lawmaker expressed gratitude to the management of the Kwara State Polytechnic for their magnanimity in accommodating the students and staff of the institution.
The Committee Chairman also appreciated the Provost, management, lecturers, and non-teaching staff of the College for their resilience and sacrifices in ensuring that teaching and learning continued despite the relocation challenges.
Hon. Baba Salihu encouraged the students to view the relocation experience as part of their educational journey and not a setback.
He advised the students to remain focused, disciplined, and determined to succeed, describing nurses as life-savers and role models in society.
While apologizing for the inconveniences caused by the temporary relocation, the lawmaker asked the students to always appreciate their teachers and never forget those who shaped their education.
In her remark, College Chief Librarian, Mrs Nimata AbdulRaheem, who the Provost, Alhaji AbdulQaudri Olanrewaju, directed to speak on behalf of the management, expressed appreciation to Hon. Baba.Salihu, the Committee Secretary, and other members of the delegation, including Alhaja Iyabo Yusuf, Provost of the Kwara State College of Nursing Sciences, Ilorin, for their visit and words of encouragement.
The team was received by the Provost, Alhaji AbdulQaudri Olanrewaju; along with Acting Registrar, Mr. Hanafi Ibrahim; Bursar, Alhaji Mohammed Zakari; and other principal officers, lecturers, and non-teaching staff.
