Director General National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman has received profound shock from the death of the Nigerian Television Authority’s (NTA) Ilorin- born Ace Broadcaster, Abdulrazak Akanbi at the age of 66.
Professor Sulaiman’s heartfelt condolences to the Management of NTA Headquarters Abuja and his former Primary Area of Responsibility, NTA Ilorin are contained in a statement today by his Media Aide, Mohammad Abdulkadri.
He described the late Akanbi’s journey in broadcast journalism practice and his remarkable sojourn in Nta Ilorin as a well accomplished tour of duty pointing out that even in death his pedigree will continue to inspire the upcoming generations of broadcasters.
He recalled with nostalgia Akanbi’s impeccable trajectory of meritorious career deeply rooted in fluency of news delivery, seamless anchoring of Programmes and articulate authoritative analysis of topical issues alongside his masterly presentations of announcements as unforgettable dating back to 80s and 90s on NTA Ilorin channel as well as how his professional brilliance made many viewers to stay glued to their TV sets and inspirationally influenced careers choice foray into journalism by Younger ones.
While praying to Almighty Allah to forgive the retired veteran Manager Programme’s misdeeds and reward his good deeds with high ranking abode in Al-jannat Firdaus, the former Minister of National Planning consoles the family, friends, his colleagues and the loved ones to continue to pray for the departed to find Mercies of Allah.
The Director General NILDS urged Nta Management and Staff in particular to find solace in the legacy he bequeathed such as commitment to excellence in TV documentary productions, unwavering passion for the Job and mentorship he provided for some broadcasters who will continue from where Akanbi exited the broadcasting stage.
