Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed grief over the passing of two distinguished personalities; former Chief of Staff to former Presidents, Major General Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba (rtd), and a former Vice Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter, Mr Yusuf Feruke, both of whom passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
In a statement jointly signed by the Council Chairman, ‘Lanre Ahmed Abdullateef, and the Secretary, Mahmood Olayinka Alaya, the Union described the exit of the duo as a colossal loss to journalism profession, media community, and the nation at large.
The statement noted that Major General Adangba served the country with uncommon patriotism and integrity, contributing immensely to national development during his tenure in public service.
It also described Mr Yusuf Feruke, a retired staff of The Herald Newspaper, as a thoroughbred journalist, a committed professional, and a gentleman who dedicated his career to the advancement of sports journalism in Kwara State and Nigeria.
The Council commiserated with the families of the deceased, the government and people of Kwara State, and members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), praying the Almighty Allah to forgive their shortcomings, grant them eternal rest, and give their bereaved families the fortitude to endure the irreversible losses.
