Kano State Governor, Mallam Abba Kabir Yusuf today assented to the bill establishing Gaya Polytechnic in the state.
This development aimed at expanding access to quality tertiary education and boosting technical skills acquisition across the state.
The Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed this in a statement in Kano
The Signing Ceremony took place at the Government House, Kano, in the presence of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, and the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello Butubutu, who jointly presented the bill.
Governor Yusuf said the new institution would create opportunities for youths to acquire practical skills and technical knowledge critical for economic growth.
According to him, this is a significant step in his administration’s commitment to reviving and strengthening education at all levels.
He explained that Gaya Polytechnic will empower young people, enhance human capital development, and contribute to economic prosperity across the state.
The bill follows a satisfactory report by a 14-member committee tasked with spearheading the establishment of the polytechnic.
