Kwara NUJ Set For 2025 Press Week, Governor AbdulRazaq, NOA DG ‘Lanre Onilu, Others To Grace Grand Finale

Arrangements have been concluded for the 2025 Press Week of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), with a line-up of activities aimed at promoting wellness, professional excellence and stronger stakeholder engagement.
The week-long celebration will kick off on Monday, December 15, with an endurance trek and a session of aerobics for journalists and invited guests.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the 2025 Press Week Committee, Ayobola Ipinlaye, and the Secretary, Abdullahi Ahmed, activities will continue on Wednesday with a comprehensive Wellness and Health Day.
The programme, in partnership with Association of Resident Doctors, Kwara State Chapter, and Opeyemi Mega Eye Clinic will feature aerobics, health lecture, fasting blood sugar tests, blood pressure checks, vital signs assessment, eye screening, and other medical evaluations, all aimed at improving the well-being of practicing journalists in the state.
According to the statement, the much-anticipated Inter-Chapel Table Tennis Tournament will hold on Thursday, December 18, with prizes to be presented to winners at the end of the competition.
The Press Week will climax on Friday, December 19, with a Grand Finale/Award Night, which includes a public lecture, presentation of awards, and a dinner.
The Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, will deliver the keynote lecture titled, “Restoring Nigeria’s Value System: The Role of NOA in Instilling Patriotism and Shared Responsibility” and a sub topic titled “Youth, Patriotism, and the Future of Nigeria: Stemming the Tide of Crimes and Online Radicalization”.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include Chairperson, Kwara State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu; Member representing Ilorin South, Hon. Maryam Yusuf Aladi; Senior Adviser and Counselor to the Governor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu; Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe; Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye; Oloro of Oro Kingdom, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye II; Chief Executive of Kam Holding Limited, Chief Mariam Bolanle Iyadunni Yusuf and state Commissioner for Business and Innovation, Hon. Damilola Yusuf-Adelodun.
Others are state Commissioner for Works, Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo; his counterpart in the Ministry of Energy, Engr Kola AbdulAzeez; and Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr Abdul Mohammed Jimoh.
The NUJ leadership says the 2025 Press Week will provide an opportunity for journalists to reflect, celebrate excellence, build professional networks, and strengthen their health and capacity for service.
