Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has urged manufacturers in Nigeria to prioritize producing standard products in the country.

Director General of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, who was represented by the Kwara State Coordinator, Engr. Oyewopo Abdulrazaq, made call in Ilorin while presenting Product Identification (P.I) Certificate to Green Conversion and Assemble Limited.

According to him, Nigerian manufacturers should keep on striving to make the minimum required standards to increase consumer trust, and guarantee quality, safety, and value for money.

Dr. Okeke emphasized that standard products will encourage Nigerians to keep on patronizing and have pride in Made-in-Nigeria goods.

The DG who congratulated the company, stated that this initiative aligns with the Organisation’s core mandate of improving lives through standardization and the implementation of quality assurance policies for locally manufactured products.

He noted that the company had successfully been certified under the Product Identification (P.I) Scheme and encouraged it to take the necessary steps towards obtaining the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certification, a more comprehensive quality assurance requirement.

Dr.Okeke noted that both the MANCAP and Product Identification Schemes are designed to ensure that locally manufactured products comply with the Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS).

He pointed out that adherence to these standards not only boosts consumer confidence but also enhances the competitiveness of Nigerian products in both local and international markets.

Speaking on the benefits of the Product Identification Scheme, the Assistant Chief Technical Officer of SON, Mrs Ibukunolu Alasan, commended the organisation on their development stride.

She explained that certified products are entitled to carry the official SON certification logo, which serves as a mark of quality and compliance.

Alasan further noted that the certification signifies formal recognition by SON and helps to strengthen consumer trust, thereby increasing market acceptance.

In his response, the Manager of Green Conversion and Assemble Limited, Mr. Bello Kamaldeen, expressed appreciation to SON for the recognition, support, and technical guidance extended to the company throughout the certification process.

He stated that the certification would serve as motivation for the company to uphold higher quality standards and continue improving its production processes.

In his remarks, Engr. Yusuf commended the management and staff of Green Conversion and Assemble Limited for their commitment to quality and standards.

He encouraged them to sustain the momentum and remain dedicated to continuous improvement while working diligently towards achieving full MANCAP certification.
