Kwara State Branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) successfully held its 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, 25th March 2026 at the Innovation and Development Centre, 23 Ven Adefila Street, Old Cemetery Road, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The well-attended AGM brought together distinguished members of the Institute from across the public and private sectors, providing a platform to review the Branch’s activities, assess its progress, and chart a forward-looking course for sustained growth and professional excellence.
A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the report of stewardship by the Chairman, Mrs Azeezat Quadri Ibrahim, MCIPM, on behalf of the Executive Committee, covering the period January to December 2025.
The report, anchored on the IMPACT Agenda, a strategic blueprint designed to reposition the Branch for relevance, value creation, and sustainable growth, showcased remarkable achievements recorded within a relatively short period.
The presentation was met with resounding applause from members, in recognition of the Executive Committee’s exceptional performance within just one year—an achievement widely described as unprecedented in recent times and reminiscent of the remarkable strides last witnessed in the Branch in the 1990s.
Particularly noteworthy was the impressive financial report presented at the AGM, which indicated an excess of income over expenditure running into millions of naira.
The Branch also secured a Compliance Letter from the Audit Department at the Headquarters, affirming the transparency and satisfactory management of its financial affairs.
Under the Membership Drive, Engagement, and Special Induction Advocacy pillar, the Branch recorded significant progress.
It actively engaged with students and young professionals through participation in the seminar of the Association of Industrial and Personnel Management Students, University of Ilorin, as well as career fairs at the Nigerian Army College of Education and the Federal Polytechnic, Offa. Strategic courtesy visits were also paid to institutional heads to strengthen partnerships.
A major milestone was the successful advocacy for a Special Induction for new members within Kwara State.
This initiative has generated strong interest, with over 150 professionals indicating readiness to join CIPM through the experiential route as Associate and Full Members.
The first run of the Pre-Induction Training was successfully held from 26th to 29th January 2026 at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, while the second run is scheduled for 7th to 10th April 2026 at the CIPM House, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The Induction Ceremony is scheduled to take place on 30th April 2026 in Ilorin. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the visibility, relevance, and impact of the Branch across the State.
In the area of Professional Development, the Branch demonstrated strong commitment to capacity building and thought leadership.
Notable programmes included the HR Clinic held on 18th June 2025, which focused on leveraging Artificial Intelligence for operational efficiency in HR management; the Community of Practice held on 13th August 2025 themed “HR at the Intersection of Professions”; and the Annual Public Lecture held on 16th October 2025 themed “Professionalism, Service and Growth: Career Insights from the Civil Service.”
The Annual Public Lecture was delivered by Dr (Mrs) Olufunke Shittu, MCIPM, the Acting Head of Service, Kwara State, whose insights challenged professionals to reposition Human Resources from administrative support to strategic leadership, further reinforcing the Branch’s thought-leadership role.
Additionally, the Branch participated in the 1st Professional Summit of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, where the Chairman delivered a paper titled “The Role of Human Resource in Harnessing Resources for National Development.” The Branch also published a Newsletter in October 2025, fully approved by the Institute’s Headquarters in line with brand guidelines. The Newsletter was formally launched by the President and Chairman of Council, with generous support of Five Hundred Thousand Naira.
Following the proceedings, members unanimously approved the rollover of the current Executive Committee for another one-year term, reflecting strong confidence in the leadership and its strategic direction.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Committee, the Chairman expressed deep appreciation to members for their continued trust and support, while reaffirming the team’s commitment to consolidating on its achievements through the advancement of IMPACT Agenda 2.0.
The Executive Committee pledged to sustain its focus on institutional strengthening, enhanced member engagement, professional development, and strategic visibility, while calling on members for continued collaboration, support, and goodwill in achieving even greater milestones.
The CIPM Kwara State Branch remains committed to promoting excellence in people management and contributing meaningfully to organisational and societal development.
