Ilorin Building Collapse: Senator Mustapha Commiserates With Victims’ Families

The lawmaker representing Kwara Central Senatorial District and Turaki of Ilorin Emirate, Senator Saliu Mustapha has expressed deep grief over the collapse of a three-storey building in the Popo-Giwa/Abemi area of Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, which claimed four lives.

The Senator in a statement today by his Media Assistant, Nasif Sholagberu extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire community affected by the disaster.

He commended the Kwara State Fire Service and other emergency response agencies for their swift intervention and sustained rescue efforts despite the challenging conditions at the scene.

Senator Mustapha urged relevant authorities and property owners to strengthen compliance with building safety standards and ensure that structures are regularly assessed and maintained by qualified professionals.

The lawmaker also called on residents to promptly report visible cracks, structural defects and other warning signs that may indicate that a building is unsafe, stressing that early intervention could prevent avoidable loss of lives.

Senator Mustapha prayed for the speedy recovery of those rescued and reaffirmed his solidarity with the victims’ families and all those affected by the tragedy.
