Residents of Kwara State have commended Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, following the commencement of construction work on the N21 billion Oko-Olowo Junction Flyover Project.
The project, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of the Federal Government’s road infrastructure interventions across the country, is expected to address persistent traffic congestion and improve safety along the busy Oko-Olowo corridor in Ilorin.
The commencement of work has renewed attention to Senator Mustapha’s advocacy for the project, having raised the issue on the floor of the Senate on November 26, 2024, through a motion calling for the urgent construction of a flyover at the Oko-Olowo Junction.
The Lawmaker had also engaged the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, in furtherance of his advocacy for the project.
Reacting to the development, residents of Kwara expressed appreciation for the progress, with some commending Senator Mustapha for his efforts towards securing federal attention for the longstanding infrastructure challenge.
The Flyover, when completed, is expected to ease traffic movement, reduce the risk of accidents and improve connectivity around one of the major entry points into Ilorin.
