Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has pledged his full commitment to eliminating drug and substance abuse within the local government area.
Hadji Yusuf made this declaration during a courtesy visit by the Special Assistant on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control to the Kwara State Governor, Hon Aileru Olamilekan Mikhail
He underscored the urgent need to tackle substance abuse his Local Government is ready to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to put an end to this menace.
The Chairman expressed deep concern about the harmful effects of drug abuse on young people as the abuse of these substances has ruined the lives of many youths and jeopardized their future.
According to him, most of the youths have fallen victim to this menace
He pledged to support the efforts of youth-focused Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to address this issue in Kwara State
Also, Special Assistant on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control, Hon. Aileru Olamilekan Mikhail chronicled the state government’s grassroots strategy to combat substance abuse, aimed to eliminate this menace at the grassroots level across all 16 local governments in Kwara
He also highlighted the Governor’s initiatives, such as *#OperationGbalumo*, and other campaigns designed to curb drug abuse.
Hon Mikhail maintained that the state government is ready to take sensitization and decisive action to the grassroots level.
He sought synergy with Local Councils being the are closest to the people to achieve desired goals
