Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu have commended the sons and daughters of the Owu community for promoting unity, peace and development among her people.
The duo gave the commendation in their separate goodwill messages at the 33rd Owu National Convention held at Owu-Obaloyan in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
Chief Obasanjo who doubles as the Balogun of Owu Kingdom renewed his commitment to supporting the Owu people both in Kwara and Nigeria as a whole as well as other Owu descendants in Cuba, Brazil, and Benin Republic among others to keep spreading the message of unity, peace and development.
The Former President also praised the AbdulRahman-led administration and the Speaker of the state for working assiduously to transform the state stressing that the Owu people would continue to do their best to support the government through the institution of scholarship schemes, cooperative society, communal development among other initiatives.
Earlier, in his goodwill message, Engineer Danladi-Salihu congratulated the Royal host and the Olowu of Owu Obaloyan, Alaiyeluwa Oba Kamorudeen Ajiboye Sanni Agunleyinju VI and the Owu people both within and outside the state for the success of the 33rd edition of the national convention.

He described the event as a great initiative which has continued to strengthen peace, unity, and development among the Owu people across Nigeria
The Speaker also rejoiced all the Owu descendants for turning up for this convention and wished them all journey mercies back to their various destinations.
Engineer Danlad-Salihu also emphasized the importance of communal development as a way of supporting the government saying that the government of His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON would continue to work to achieve peace, unity and development across the state.
Founded in 1992 by ex-president Obasanjo and other founding fathers, the Owu National Convention is an annual convention of Owu township and cities in Kwara, Ogun, Osun and Lagos states as well as the Benin Republic and diaspora.
The Programme was attended by the Kwara State Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. John Bello, member representing Omupo state constituency; Hon. AGF Salau; Adviser to the Governor on political matters; Hon. Femi Whyte, the Executive Chairmen of Ifelodun, Isin Offa and Baruten Local Government Councils; Hon. Femi Yusuf, Hon. Benjamin Jolayemi, Hon. Sulaiman Olatunji and Hon. Isa Jibril, former Baruten TIC Chairman, Hon. Rasheed Lafia, traditional rulers of Owu communities both within and outside the state among others
