Kwara State Government has reiterated its determination towards championing Community Development, fraud and violence free polls in the State
Commissioner for Local Governments, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Abdullahi-Bata dropped this hint while receiving the delegation of a Non Governmental Organization, Women Situation Room Nigeria, WSRN in collaboration with Women International Leagues For Peace and Freedom who paid him Advocacy Visit in his office
Alhaji Abdullahi-Bata intimated the NGO that Local Government elections conducted few months ago in the State were largely transparent and expressed the readiness of Kwara State to ensure development reaches all parts of the state
He said the Ministry under his watch is passionate about Community Development in the 16 Local Government Areas of the State as enshrined in the policy thrust of the present administration
Alhaji Abdullahi-Bata noted that State Government under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has entrenched women emancipation through gender balanced political appointments
Earlier, Leader of the Delegation and Executive Director, Women Environment and Youth Empowerment Initiative WOYODEV, Mrs Tosin Apiriola-Ajayi explained that Women Situation Room Nigeria WSRN is a platform that monitors elections and appraise situations to ensure violence free polls in Nigeria.
Mrs Apiriola-Ajayi elucidated that the purpose of the advocacy visit is to share the outcomes of the findings of the election monitoring conducted in 2023 and to seek partnership and collaboration of the Ministry in the activities of the Non Governmental Organization
She solicited the support of the Commissioner in Community Development under his Ministry and charged him to interface between the NGO and the 16 Local Government Areas to achieve desired results
