Chairman, Master Bakers in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatai Alaba has reacted to the online reports portraying bakers refusal to reduce the price of bread despite the reduction in the price of flour.
Alhaji Alaba in a statement in Ilorin debunked the online reports and said it was true that the price has reduced to 66,000 thousand naira and explained that the last time the price of bread was increased in Kwara was when a bag of flour was fifty-two thousand naira.
The Chairman asserted that the critics were only looking at the price without taking into cognizance of the prices of other essential ingredients that have skyrocketed occasioned by inflation.
Alhaji Alaba said it was in those days that people come to the bakery to buy bread but today the bakers have to move it to far places to get it sold.
He explained that there is nothing to gain as a business man if the interest is to shortchange the customers.
The Chairman revealed that the price moved to 86000 in Ilorin at that period, because the road from Oyo to Ogbomoso was in a bad condition as it takes trailers days before getting to Ilorin.
