In a gentle way, they say, one can shake the world by making impacts. In the same vein, according to a famous American baseballer, Jackie Robinson, “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives”. One’s success can only be measured by the number of lives touched positively.
Senator Mustapha has demonstrated in all circumstances that making impacts through quality representation is the real deal. It is not about noise, it is about ensuring that all machineries are put in place to make things work.
Essentially, Quality legislation requires careful consideration, thoughtful debate, and a commitment to the common good. This is why Senator Mustapha has sponsored about seven bills which would have direct bearing on the well-being of his people and the country at large.
The bills include: the Electronic Transaction Bill, the National Food Reserve Agency Bill and others. This is in consonance with the remark by former South African President, Nelson Mandela when he said “quality legislation is the foundation of a just and prosperous society”.
The Turaki of Ilorin has also secured federal appointments for some indigenes of his senatorial district. After all, bringing succour to the people is one of the indices of the dividends of democracy, and he is ensuring that such efforts are not plummeted.
It may interest you to know that Senator Mustapha is the only incumbent Senator in the history of Kwara state that has given out full varsity scholarships to 200 indigent students. The students were drawn majorly from Kwara Central, the constituency he represents in the 10th Senate.
Interestingly, it was on the 27th December, 2024 when Senator Mustapha hosted the beneficiaries, and their parents, of his unprecedented scholarship in Kwara for a dinner at Peace Hotel, Ilorin.
The event was graced by traditional and religious leaders, Ilorin Emirate Professors, captains of industries and many dignitaries. The Joy on their faces and their parents melted my heart as a member of the Saliu Mustapha Education Committee.
During the historic event, he promised that the gesture would be sustained as another set of indigent students would benefit from the scholarship in 2025.The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara state is lucky to have a senator who combines politics , legislation, empathy and philanthropy as a duty that must be accomplished.
Amid the current economic hardship in the country, it is noteworthy that Tinubu’s administration is working hard to reduce the rate of poverty; however, only the President can’t achieve that without a corresponding performance from others at the various arms and levels of government. Indeed, the amiable Senator has been a key player in this regard, especially at his senatorial district.
Senator Mustapha is too refined to play politics of acrimony and destruction. The controversy about the Emir’s palace pavilion has been put to rest, because of his quick intervention by disclosing that the contractor has not observed the necessary procedure.
Life is indeed a teacher so also politics is a game of interest. The complexity of the game is in the hands of those who understand the nitty gritty, and the dynamics of it.
Only those who may represent the darkest part of our political history won’t score this face of impactful politics high. Senator Mustapha is focused on the consistent delivery of the dividends of democracy to his people. May God continue to be his guide and guard.
