Poly Final Year Student Shot Dead By Suspected Armed Robbers

A final year student of Electrical Electronics Department, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Ikot Osurua in Ikot Ekpene local government area of the state has been shot dead by armed robbery gang allegedly terrorizing the school environment.

It was gathered Sunday evening that the student who was identified simply as Saviour at press time was shot dead Saturday night while dragging his cellphone with armed robbers.

Newsmen also gathered that the incident occurred at about 8pm at Ikot uboh in Ikot Ekpene LGA, close to where the student was living before.

Reportedly, the armed robbers opened fire on their victim as he tried to raise the alarm. The Akwa Ibom state Police command confirmed the incident Sunday evening .

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John simply said police command was aware of the unfortunate incident and have already swung into action.

“The perpetrators will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law. It is the determination of CP Waheed Ayilara to rid Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements. And this is not negotiable”, She assured
