The leadership of Ilorin Central Mosque Management Committee has been commended for its dedication and commitment to service Almighty Allah which has led to several achievements in ensuring proper maintenance of Ilorin Ultra Modern Central Jumma’ah Mosque for the past thirteen years when the remodelling and reconstruction of Mosque was completed and commissioned 13 years ago.
The Muslim Media Watch of Group of Nigeria made this commendation today a Statement by Its National Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi while reacting to the landmark achievement recorded by the Management Committee of Ilorin Central Jumaat Mosque under the leadership of Alhaji Shehu Abdul-Gafar – the Danmadami of Ilorin.
Alhaji Shehu Abdul-Gafar who is a retired Secretary to the Kwara State Government and Former Head of Service, yesterday briefed a Media Team on the success it has recorded in securing an investment – the proceeds of which would be used to constantly maintain properly the Ultra Modern Ilorin Central Mosque.
According to to him, the richest man in Africa and President of Dangote Conglomerate Alhaji Aliko Dangote has offered to build 250-Bed Students’ Hostel for the Committee at the University of Ilorin as an investment to ease the economic burden of the Mosque maintenance.
Reacting to this kind gesture, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria through its National Coordinator Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, commended Alh. Aliko Dangote for his kind gesture and praised His Royal Highness the Emir of Ilorin Alh. Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR for chosen Alhaji Shehu Abdul-Gafar as the Chairman of Ilorin Central Mosque Management Committee, adding that his holistic leadership qualities culminated in the huge investment coming in favour of Ilorin Central Mosque Jumaat Management Committee.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Shehu Abdul-Gafar also announced a monthly donation of N5 million from Alh. Aliko Dangote for maintenance of the Mosque pending the completion of the Students Hotel at the Unilorin in the next one-year.
Also, the Turaki of Ilorin and Senator Saliu Mustapha was also reported to have facilitated the installation of a gigantic solar power intervention for the Mosque to reduce cost of fuel consumption in powering electrical equipment and facilicities in the Mosque
The National Coordinator of the Muslim Media Watch Group Alh Abdullahi Ibrahim noted that all these giant-strides and called on other wealthy muslims to shun extravagance and wasteful spending, instead, should emulate Aliko Dangote and other wealthy muslims by committing their wealth and other resources to profitable venture such as islamic propagation, maintenance of Mosque, welfare and well-being of Islamic scholars, sponsorship of education of the less priviledged students and welfare of the widows, to mention a few.
He said such kind gestures manifest as true belief in Almighty Allah and regretted that islamic projects have been suffering across the Federation due to lukewarm attitude of some wealthy muslims and called on them to change for better.
Ilorin Ultra-Modern Central Mosque is believed to be the best on whole of West Africa in terms of cost and infrastructural facilities therein including an E-Library of International Standard.
