Kwara State has scored another big win in national sports administration as Abdullahi Yunusa Lade, Permanent Member of the Kwara State Sports Commission, has been officially elected to the Board of the National Rowing, Canoeing and Sailing Federation (NRCSF) to represent the North Central Zone.
The keenly anticipated election took place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Jos, Plateau State, headquarters of the North Central Zone of the National Sports Commission.
Delegates and stakeholders from across the zone converged for the exercise, which saw Lade emerge unopposed after a series of wide consultations and strategic lobbying, a reflection of the broad confidence reposed in his capacity and vision.
Lade succeeds Dr. Femi Ayorinde, the immediate past North Central representative on the Federation’s Board, who also distinguished himself as Vice-President of the Federation and a member of several international bodies.
Stakeholders describe Lade’s emergence as both timely and strategic, citing his strong riverine background in Kwara North, his proven dedication to grassroots sports development, and his active role in community empowerment and youth inclusiveness in leadership.
With this new responsibility, Lade is expected to inject fresh energy, innovative ideas, and inclusive representation, not only to advance the interests of the North Central Zone but also to raise the profile of rowing, canoeing, and sailing in Nigeria and beyond.
This victory further consolidates Kwara State’s growing influence in national sports governance under the forward-looking leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Acknowledgment has also gone to the Kwara State Sports Commission, led by its Executive Chairman, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, for the crucial role it played in ensuring a seamless and successful electoral process.
