President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been commended for his powerful speech delivered at the United Nation’s General Assembly [UNGA].
Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria [MMWG], made the commendation while reacting to his message delivered at the United Nation’s General Assembly delivered on his behalf by the Nigeria’s Vice-President Senator Kashim Shettima in New York .
In a Press Statement jointly signed by the National Coordinator of the Group Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi and the National Secretary Dr. Nasir Balogun, the Group said condemnation of genocide being committed in Palestine is a right step in correcting the ills pervading the International Community as the path-way to peace in the world is to maintain peace.
According to the Group, President Tinubu said the price for peace is eternal vigilance while increasingly difficult insecurity outlook has prompted the call for peace, reconciliation and victory for utilisation of values and protection of humanity against further bloodshed in the whole world.
The Media Group noted with concern that Nigeria’s incessant call for Nigeria’s Permanent Seat in the Security Council of the United Nation has been long overdue and call for sincere and quick recognition of this fact by doing the needful in the interest of truth, genuine democracy and inclusivity.
The Group also called on the U.N. to obey and respect International Laws without any discrimination whatsoever; adding that failure of U.N. to punish offenders on war crimes has increased tension the world-over as innocent lives are being lost irresponsibly in the troubled Zone without any repercussion whatsoever.
In this instance, the Group particularly mentioned Palestine, Ukraine and Sudan. It warned on delibitating effects of war crime which is turning United Nations Organization [UNO] to ‘a dog that barks but cannot bite as the International Body must ‘take the bull by the horns’ by living to its mandate by punishing offenders promptly and adequately.
On Nigeria’s insecurity problem, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria commended the Nigerian Military and other Security Forces including the reputable Vigilante Groups for the success being recorded in fighting violent crimes in Nigeria so far, and called on them not to relent in their efforts.
While commending the National Security Adviser Mal. Nuhu Ribadu on his regular media briefing on the success being achieved in fighting violent crimes Nigeria, the Group emphasized the need for proactive measures in curbing insecurity in Nigeria instead of reactive measures…
It also called for speedy trial of all those so far arrested for terrorism, banditry and kidnapping in Nigeria without further delay as the frightening jail-break incidents call for serious concern.
The Media Group finally called on Nigerian Citizens to be patriotic by reporting promptly all evil-minded people in their various domains as Security Operatives are not magicians but patriotic citizens who would work gallantly to deal with the enemies of the people and the State.
