Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Friday commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their efforts in promoting public safety and peace in the state.
The Governor’s remarks were delivered in Ilorin at the closing ceremony of a two-week intelligence training for newly recruited constables, through his Senior Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu, who represented him.
A total of 142 police constables completed the training organised by the Kwara State Police Command.
The Governor pledged continued government support to strengthen the capacity of security agencies to combat crime.
Mallam AbdulRazaq urged the new constables to demonstrate professionalism, discipline and dedication, noting that their conduct will influence public perception of the police.
He expressed satisfaction that the recruits were exposed to threat assessment, source management, digital forensics and community intelligence, describing these skills as essential in modern policing.
The Governor emphasised that every patrol, report and engagement with citizens contributes to national stability, adding that security personnel have a responsibility to maintain vigilance to prevent crime and ensure public trust.
Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, said the training focused on enhancing professionalism, discipline and operational efficiency.
He commended the participants for their commitment throughout the programme and urged them to apply the knowledge gained in their daily assignments. He described them as representatives of the Force whose conduct will shape public confidence in policing.
The CP acknowledged Governor AbdulRazaq’s financial and material support that enabled the training, describing the Governor as a consistent partner to the security establishment in Kwara.
Four former Assistant Inspectors General of Police; Baba Adisa Bolanta, Babatunde Ishola Babaita, Fimihan Adeoye and Tokunbo Owolabi attended the ceremony.
