Nigeria Police Force has graduated 325 officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Basic Course 20/2025 to strengthen operational readiness against evolving security threats.
The intensive four-week training, held from October 12 to November 7, 2025, at the Police Mobile Force Training College in Ende Hills, Nasarawa State, equipped officers with advanced skills in detecting, handling, and mitigating threats from explosive devices.
Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the course also trained officers to prevent the unlawful use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and other hazardous materials.
He noted that the initiative aligns with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to build a more capable and resilient police force.
Representing the Inspector-General at the graduation ceremony, Commissioner of Police in charge of the EOD-CBRN Command, Hauwa Ibrahim, commended the officers for their discipline, dedication, and teamwork throughout the course.
The Inspector-General acknowledged the support of national and international partners, including the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), The HALO Trust, the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), and the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.
He also recognised the contributions of specialised police units such as the Directorate of Force Medical Services, the Forensics Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, and the Counter Terrorism Unit.
Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to continuous capacity development, assuring Nigerians that the newly trained officers would enhance national security, improve public safety, and support ongoing counter-threat operations across the country.
The development comes amid growing security challenges, including farmer-herder clashes, separatist movements, and piracy, as well as the persistent Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgency that has claimed many lives through improvised explosive devices and suicide bombings.
