Veteran Yoruba actor and filmmaker Lere Paimo, popularly known as Eda Onileola, has reacted to viral rumours claiming he had died at the age of 86.
Reports of his alleged death spread rapidly across social media platforms in the early hours of Saturday, November 29, throwing fans and colleagues into confusion and concern.
Hours later, Lere Paimo shared a video online to personally debunk the claims, confirming that he is alive, healthy, and in good condition.
In the video, the veteran actor assured his fans and well-wishers that there was no truth to the reports and stated that he was hale and hearty.
He also addressed those responsible for spreading the false information, saying he would not curse them but would leave their actions to God for judgment.
His response followed an earlier statement from the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), which described the reports of his death as false and misleading.
The association confirmed that Chief Lere Paimo was alive and urged members of the public to verify information before sharing it.
The video sparked widespread relief among fans and colleagues, many of whom took to social media to express gratitude and offer prayers for the actor’s continued health and long life.
Meanwhile, the incident has reignited conversations around irresponsible reporting and the emotional toll false death reports have on public figures and their families.
