Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria has called on the Minister of Defence Rtd Lt. General Christopher Musa and the National Security Adviser (NSA) Mal. Nuhu to jointly work together to stop Katsina State Government from implementing a purported agreement on the release of arrested bandits in exchange for kidnapped innocent victims of Katsina State.
This call was contained in a Press Statement released today and signed by the National Coordinator of the Media Group Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi.
It would be recalled that for quite sometime, the issue of negotiation with bandits by Katsina State Government and bandits has been a controversial issue creating fears for the people of Katsina State in particular and Nigeria in general.
The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria felt worried over the unworkable agreement alleged to have been signed by the Representatives of the Katsina State Government with the Representatives of the bandits for releasing 70 people from both sides.
It wondered how Governor Dikko Radda could endorse such agreement when Security Agencies are working hard to eliminate the criminals who are known to be destroying lives and property across the Country.
MMWG noted that it believed that the criminal elements were using such negotiation to buy time and secure their gangs to strike again in Nigeria.
The Islamic Organization opined that one of its objectives is maintenance peace, security and progress in Nigeria as the Federal Government should stop the implementation of purported agreement by the Katsina State Governor.
The Media Group pointed out that negotiation with bandits portend danger not only for Katsina State but entire Nigeria
