The Hijrah Islamic Organisation has received with deep sorrow and profound sadness the news of the passing of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Solihu.
In a condolence message signed by the leadership of the organisation, Hijrah described the late Chief Imam as an exceptional scholar and revered religious leader whose life was wholly devoted to the service of Allah and the advancement of Islam.
According to the statement, his demise represents a monumental loss not only to the Ilorin Emirate but also to the entire Muslim Ummah in Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole.
It noted that Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Solihu was widely known for his vast knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence, his humility in leadership, and his unwavering commitment to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad.
The Islamic Organization observed that through decades of teaching, preaching, and guidance, he played a critical role in nurturing generations of scholars and promoting authentic Islamic values.
The organisation noted that the late Chief Imam was a beacon of peace, moderation, and unity, whose counsel and leadership helped to foster harmony within the Ilorin Emirate and beyond.
It explained that his sermons consistently emphasized moral uprightness, tolerance, social responsibility, and peaceful coexistence, making him a father figure and moral compass to many Muslims across different age groups and backgrounds.
Hijrah Islamic Organisation extended its heartfelt condolences to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Ilorin Emirate Council, the immediate and extended family of the deceased, as well as the entire Muslim community in Kwara State.
The organisation prayed that Allah grants them patience, strength, and fortitude to bear this great and irreparable loss.
The group further stated that Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu’s enduring legacy of sound Islamic scholarship, discipline, sincerity, and dedication to the Ummah will continue to inspire Islamic scholars, students, youths, and faith-based organisations for many years to come
