Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Kwara State Council has described the transition of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solihu, as a profound depletion in spirituality and Islamic scholarship.
It added that with the passing of the Muslim leader, Ilorin Emirate has lost one of its strongest pillars.
The Chairman, state council of NLC, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka, said this in a condolence message issued in Ilorin, a copy of which was extended to Journalists in Ilorin on Saturday.
Comrade Olayinka recalled the contributions of Shaykh Bashir Imam Solihu to spiritual growth and development of the Ilorin Emirate, saying that the deceased distinguished himself in sayings and actions, the attributes, he added, earned him respect among the scholars.
He stated that the Chief Imam departed the earthly realm at a time that his wise counsel and scholarship would be required to guide the current and unborn generations.
The NLC chief maintained that the demise of the spiritual leader remains a monumental loss not only to his immediate family, Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State but the entire Muslim community.
Comrade Olayinka condoled Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari; and the people of Ilorin Emirate on the tragedy that fell them following the passing of the revered Islamic scholar.
He is not just an Imam. He is a scholar whose messages resonate with the entire Muslim community. This transcends his unique style of recitation of the noble Qur’an.
