Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has advocated adequate security measures to prevent future attacks on communities around Kaiama in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
The call came against the backdrop of the recent terrorists’ attacks on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama where over 75 local residents were slaughtered with a number of valuables perished in the process.
The state Chairman of NLC, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka, said this in a condolence statement issued in Ilorin, a copy of which was extended to Wind Gate News.
Comrade Olayinka, in the statement, urged security agencies to available resources within their kitty to bring the perpetrators of the massacre to justice.
He added that the gruesome murder of the victims requires immediate action of the government and the security agencies to ensure accountability.
Describing the killings as senseless, the NLC chairman expressed solidarity of the labour movement to the bereaved families and affected communities.
“On behalf of the entire Workers of Kwara State, NLC expressed deepest condolences to the Communities and the people of Kwara State on the recent banditry attack in Kaiama Local Government Area.
According to him, the senseless killings of innocent civilians in Woro and Nuku communities are a tragic reminder of the insecurity plaguing the nation.
He noted that government and people of Nigeria stand in solidarity with the affected families and communities and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and comfort for those who lost loved ones.
