2024 Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar: The Socio-Cultural Committee Chair, Alapasanpa Promises World Standard Event
This year’s Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar Annual Cultural Fiesta is geared towards promoting unity to further entrench cordial relationships among the indigenes as a relaxation point for the people who come home from far and near.
Chairman, Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar Committee, Engineer Sulaiman Yahaya Alapasanpa dropped this hint today while addressing a Press Conference in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital
Engineer Alapasanpa pointed out that the annual cultural event would be a world standard to boost local economy as more sales will be recorded by traders all over Ilorin during the festival.
He posited the first activity of the event is Health Day that would take place tomorrow, Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Emir’s Palace to enable indigenes and residents of Ilorin Emirate know their health status
The Chairman explained that drugs and medications would be provided for patients with minor ailments while those with more serious ones would be referred to relevant hospitals expected to be handled by experienced medical experts of Ilorin Emirate being their own contributions to the wellbeing of the people of the community.
Engineer Alapasanpa, applauded Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the support to the Committee towards organising a befitting successive Durbar festival and appreciated the exciting participation of the Governor and members of his family in the last two editions of the festival.
According to him, on Friday, June 14, 2024, a special Jumaat service would be conducted at the magnificent Ilorin Central Juma’at Mosque to be presided over by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir Saliu to be attended by the Emir and other dignitaries
The Chairman said on Saturday, June 15, 2024 would also be dedicated to specific prayer for the all-round success of the entire Durbar programme to be held at the Madrasat Sheikh Alimi at the Emir’s palace beginning at 9:00am while road shows with well decorated horses to be mounted by expert horse-riders would also be conducted round the city of Ilorin as the day would also witness the Ilorin Emirate Exhibition at the Emir’s palace.
He pointed out on Sunday, June 16,2024, which is the main day of Eid-el-Kabir festival, would witness the Emir leading the people and residents of Ilorin Emirate to Ilorin Eid Praying Ground for the observance of special two rakaat prayers to be led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir Saliu
Engineer Alapasanpa elucidated that immediately after the prayers, the Emir would host the Executive Governor of Kwara State and Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum(NGF), Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to a traditional sallah homage at the palace
He announced that the Grand Durbar Festival proper would be staged at the forecourt of the ancient palace and across Ilorin between 9a.m and 4:00pm on Tuesday, June 17, 2024 while the horse procession, which which consists of over 500 horsemen would be led by the Emir to be accompanied by the Executive Governor of Kwara State, the High Chiefs of the Emirate and members of the Royal family as well as honorary title holders.
