Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in collaboration with the Nigeria League Of Women Voters (NILOWV) and Women In Politics Forum (WIPF) has begun awareness on women affirmative action ahead of Governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States this year
Meanwhile, the Town Hall Meeting held in Edo State is great success themed “Engaging Grassroots Women for Robust Political Participation,” brought together women from various communities to discuss and strategize on increasing their political involvement ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial elections.
Following the positive outcome in Edo State, political engagement of women is currently ongoing in Ondo State
Sponsored by ActionAid Nigeria and Global Affairs Canada, the meeting provided a valuable platform for grassroots women to voice their concerns and ensure their issues are prioritized by the incoming administration.
As primary caregivers, educators, and community organizers, women have a unique understanding of their neighborhoods’ challenges and needs, making their participation in the electoral process essential for community development and well-being.
With the Ondo State governorship election set for November 16, 2024, the upcoming meeting aims to further empower and prepare women for robust political participation.
