Traditional rulers in various communities in Kwara have been counseled to always maintain peace in their respective domains.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Mamman Saba Jibril, made the call at the turbaning of 20th Kpafyen of Dumagi under Shonga Emirate, Alhaji Jubril Mohammed III held at LGEA Central Primary School, Dumagi, Edu Local Government Area of the State
Professor Saba Jibril, who chronicled the historical development of the village, urged the new village head of Dumagi to join hands with other traditional rulers not to lower the standard of existing peace so as to guard against unwarranted public unrest.
He pointed out that community leaders have nowhere to run to if their domains are troubled as they have a responsibility to ensure that there is absolute peace in their communities.
In his remarks, the lawmaker representing Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency, Dr Ahmed Adamu Saba, stated the installation of Alhaji Jibril Muhammed marked big history in the annals of Dumagi as an agrarian community.
Saba tasked the new village head to be more proficient in crisis management and strengthen ties with other traditional rulers to entrench mutual understanding among their subjects to forestall communal clashes.
Also speaking, Professor of Pedology, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Hassan Alhaji Mohammad, who is an indigene of the community, acknowledged the support accorded to the new Village Head of Dumagi by inhabitants of the community.
Highpoints of the event were the visit to the graveside of the first Kpafyen of Dumagi, Usmanko by the newly turbaned Kpafyen of Dumagi to pay obeisance and pray for longevity of life and enduring peace in the community.
As tradition requires, the new Kpafyen also proceeded to the secluded area of the tomb where the pioneer village head was interred characterized by drumming and rendering of songs in Nupe dialect.
