Veteran journalists have been urged to enrol for health insurance scheme for proper care to insulate them against ill-health

A consultant at KwaraCares, an agency in charge of the health insurance scheme in Kwara State, Dr Adebukola Shittu – Muyideen gave the advice while sensitizing members of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) during their meeting in Ilorin, the state capital on Wednesday.

Shittu – Muyideen who represented the Executive Secretary of Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Olubunmi Jetawo- Winter, emphasized the need for the veteran journalists to embrace the health insurance scheme at this stage of their lives considering the enormous task of their journalistic duties

She posited that while people insured their domestic and material properties, they neglected what could make them stay alive to enjoy those properties.

She said, “insuring our health should be paramount. I enjoy you, our elders to prioritise your health status more than anything in life.

“Prioritising your health will no doubt allow you to enjoy the property you have laboured so much to gather while you were younger”.

The consultant encouraged the veterans to enrol for the Kwara health insurance scheme which she said charges the minimum premium in the country

” The premium charge by the Kwara health insurance agency is the cheapest in the country because of the determination of the state government to ensuring that all residents are duly captured in the scheme,” she said.

In his remark, Chairman of NALVEJ in the state, Alhaji Muhammad Tunde Akanbi thanked the consultant for sensitizing the league’s members to the advantages of the health insurance scheme.

Alhaji Akanbi also appreciated the efforts of the Executive Secretary of the Health Insurance Agency, Dr Olubunmi Jetawo- Winter for the effective management of the scheme.
