The 2023 Kwara State Secondary Schools Track and Field Championship is beginning to yield the desired results as two potential Amputee athletes were discovered in the Lafiagi centre of the Kwara North Zone of the event just concluded in Lafiagi.
The event in the Lafiagi centre was characterized with thrills and pulsating moments that gave the pocket spectators at the centre something to cheer about.
The mission of the Kwara State Sports Commission of taking Sports,particularly athletics to grassroots to discover hidden talents is yielding a positive result
The Lafiagi centre which hosted Nine Schools in the area unearthed talents including two Amputee athletes who distinguished themselves in the the championship.
The physically challenged athletes، Omar Saidu an SS1 student of Lafiagi Secondary School and Mohammed Alhaji Issa of UBE Centre school Lafiagi are potential athletes that could represent the state in the National Youth Games and the Sports Festival.
Umar Saidu performed exceptionally well in the track event as he won the 200m and placed fourth in the 800m events while Mohammed Alhaji Issa did well in the Javelin event.
These two athletes really showed tremendous ability as potential feature champions for the state and the country.
