An Islamic Organization, Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria has counselled Federal and State Governments to avoid execution of projects that do not have immediate positive impact on the lives of the people
The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria gave the counsel in a statement by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi and the Ogun State Coordinator of the Group, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde against the backdrop of looming protest tagged End Bad Governance/Take It Back slated for August 1 to to August 10
The Statement tasked the government to take drastic steps to control control the unbearable exchange rate of Naira to all foreign currencies and inflation towards ameliorating the suffering of the downtrodden
It therefore called on the citizens across the Nation to see patriotism as a core value that should be embraced irrespective of their locations in the Country.
According to the group, if the planned protest is truly for the betterment of our people, planners and executors of the protest must exercise restraint so that decorum pervades throughout the exercise.
The Muslim Media Watch Group maintained that protest must be well-organised and controlled as to have place to assemble, routes must be outlined and placed before the Security Agencies without any deviation during the course of the protest.
The Islamic organization pointed out that protests must be devoid of blockage of roads, burning of tyres, prevention of vehicles and human traffic as well as be for short period like 2 hours, as prolonged protest is capable of disrupting innocent peoples businesses and create tension.
The Media Group who called for sensible approach to the National protest so as not to deviate from the norms, cautioned undesirable elements, miscreants and political jobbers to stay-away from the proposed protest and charged security agents to be alert, professional in their duties and responsibility to avoid any ugly incident in any part of the Country during the peaceful protest.
