EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: KWSG responsive to humanitarian crisis – Governor’s Aide, Prince Adebara

Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor on Humanitarian Affairs, Prince Abdul-lateef Atolagbe Adebara has reaffirmed the commitment of the State Government in addressing humanitarian crises in alignment with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s vision.

Prince Adebara dropped this hint during an Exclusive Interview with Dailysource in Ilorin, the State Capital.

He highlighted fire and flood disasters, as well as the repercussions of fuel subsidy removal, as the specific humanitarian challenges faced by the state.

The Governor’s Aide recalled the government’s swift response to a fire outbreak at Oja-Tuntun in Ilorin West Local Government Area, where Governor Abdulrazaq personally inspected the site at night to assess the extent of the damages and provide relief to the affected individuals.

He also underscored Governor Abdulrazaq’s proactive visit to Bode Saadu in Moro Local Government Area, where numerous houses were submerged due to severe flooding, and immediate measures were taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

On impact of fuel subsidy removal, Prince Adebara stated that rice, agricultural tools, and fertilizers were distributed as relief measures to real farmers in the state

The Special Assistant Humanitarian also posited that the recent visitation to the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Sheu Omar (Kiyaru IV) and family of those who lost their lives at Gbajibo in Kaiama LGA is testament of swift response of Governor Abdulrazaq where he donated the sum of 100 million naira to supports the victims family.

He stated that few months ago, the Governor visited the Patigi Emirate in Patigi Local Government Area to commiserate with the relatives of over 200 boat mishap victims whose lives were claimed in the incidence.

Similarly, the Governor’s Aide revealed that 40,000 individuals in the state received financial assistance through the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) to alleviate the challenges arising from the fuel subsidy removal.

He emphasized the collaborative efforts between his office on Humanitarian Affairs, the Ministries of Special Duties and Environment, the State Emergency Management Agency, KWASSIP, and the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development in addressing the humanitarian issues faced by the people of Kwara.

Prince Adebara assured that the state government is sparing no effort in ensuring thorough disaster preparedness, prevention, and mitigation strategies are in place to safeguard the well-being of the people in the State.
