The walk commenced at the NUJ Press Centre, Offa Road, traversing Post Office, Challenge, Ahmadu Bello Way, and back to the Press Centre.

Chairman of the Council, Mallam Lanre Ahmed, emphasized the significance of routine exercise

Mallam Ahmed highlighted that journalism demands mental alertness and urged practitioners to regularly engage in physical activities to maintain their well-being and enhance job efficiency.

He outlined the Press Week activities to include a medical outreach on Monday at 12 PM and a dinner and award ceremony on Tuesday at 4 PM, both to be held at the Press Centre, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin.

He called on members to participate actively as this year’s theme is “Ending the Siege on Truthful Journalism.”

He also called on the Federal Government to review the cybercrime law to create a safe environment for journalists to perform their duties without intimidation.

Participants praised the initiative, encouraging colleagues to incorporate regular exercise into their routines.

They charged the union’s leadership to make the road walk a recurring event to foster healthy living.
