A passionate appeal has gone to faith based organizations to rekindle their efforts in promoting religious Harmony in Nigeria.
A Non- Governmental Organization, Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria, MMWG made the appeal in a statement signed by its National Secretary Dr. Nasir Balogun and Edo State Coordinator of the Group, Alhaji Abdulazeez Igbinidu.
The Media Group is reacting to a statement credited to one Dr. Samuel Danjuma Gani, Chairman of National Christian Elders Forum [NCEF] who criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for attending Arab-Islamic Summit in Saudi-Arabia.
It charged Christian Leadership in Nigeria to always caution its members to refrain from fanning embers of religious fanaticism capable of causing religious disunity in Country.
It maintained that the presence of President Tinubu at the summit was critical to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
The Islamic Organization observed that such outburst is aimed at re-opening old wound already cured over 35 years ago.
It said Nigeria’s full membership of OIC since 1990 is irrevocable as the honour was conferred on Nigeria after serving in the observer status for 20 years [1969 to 1989] before being upgraded to full-member status.
The Media Watch identified South America, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Gayana, Uganda, Togo, Gabon, Guinea, Chad, Benin and Ivory Coast and others as OIC members
