Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards promoting initiatives, policies, and legislations that protect the rights of women in the State
Governor Abdulrazaq in a Congratulatory Message to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated women in the State and across the world for their resilience, creativity, and the joy they bring to every space they occupy.
He identified women as critical stakeholders in the society and in the quest for sustainable development having played important roles in development, social cohesion, and progress.
Governor Abdulrazaq believes his administration has been measured up and promised to do more.
According to him, from making history with the female majority cabinet in 2019, the state now has a pathfinder law that guarantees at least 35 percent affirmative action for every government appointment.
The Governor explained that relevant laws have been enacted particularly Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) law to ensure a safer environment for the girls and women and every other person.
Governor Abdulrazaq maintained that the state has keyed into the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) programme to get more girls enrolled in school and make their learning journey an exciting experience.
The Governor therefore recommitted himself to empowering women and creating more opportunities for them to thrive.
