Water : Hon Lade Assures Residents Of Adequate Supply

Kwara State Ministry of Water Resources has visited several water fetching points in parts of the Ilorin metropolis.
Led by the Commissioner for Water Resources Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, the team also visited areas where water facilities are undergoing repairs and maintenance works, especially the Flower Garden waterway and Pakata waterway, for firsthand information on the work.
The Commissioner and his team visited Adeta, Sakele, Pakata, Ita-merin, Oloje, Alore, Abayawo, Okelele, and Ayegbami, where residents were seen fetching water from government fetching points.
He implored residents to take ownership of the fetching points and water pipes in their neighbourhood by safeguarding them against vandalisation.
He added that residents should not hesitate to call the attention of the Ministry, including the State Water Corporation, to leaking pipes to avoid wastage.
Hon Lade assured the communities that the government is committed to making water available to the people of the state.
He said the water works when completed, the Flower Garden waterways will supply water to areas like Sabo-Oke, Amilengbe, Maraba, Adualere, Mubo, and Ipata, where there are challenges of water at the moment.” he said.
According to him, communities like Abeemi, Omoda, Ile Ara-Oyo, Masingba, Ajikobi, Okekere, Popo-Igbona, Ita-Ogunbo, Ita-Kudimo, Ode Alfa Nda and Agbaji, among others, will begin to enjoy water supply upon completion of the repair of Pakata waterways.
The residents commended the efforts of the government and urged it to do more.
At some parts of Isale-Aluko community, where the repair of leaking water pipes is ongoing, the residents lauded the government for its swift action and pledged to protect the facilities from vandalism.
