2025 International Day of Sports: Coach Mogaji Maintains Sports Festival Introduced To Promote National Unity After Civil War

Executive Chairman, Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji has described sport as a veritable tool to promote unity, harmony and development globally.
Coach Mogaji dropped this hint during an interview with students on the 2nd of April, 2025 to commemorate the significance of International Day of Sports for peace and Development.
He observed that National Sports Festival was introduced in 1973 after the civil war to promote peace and development in the Country.
Coach Mogaji noted that the primary objective of the festival was not to win but to bring Nigerians together after the war
He said that really worked particularly in uniting divergent tribes and cultures.
According to him, during Biafra war, Pele came to Nigeria and there was ceasefire while the Nigerian army and the Biafra army stopped to watch Pele play football.
The Sports Administrator enumerated opportunities abound in sports as athletics in the United Kingdom and United States are paid heavily.
Coach Mogaji therefore tasked people in the helms of affairs to explore sport sector to empower the teeming youth population to guard them against social vices.
