Governor Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman has forwarded Freedom of Information Bill to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
This was revealed during plenary today through a letter by the Governor read by the speaker Eng. Yakubu Danlandi before his colleagues
The speaker therefore referred the bill to the House Committee on Business and Rules to schedule the bill for first reading as appropriate.
Meanwhile, Kwara State Electric Power Sector Bill has been read for the second time at the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Leading the House on the debate during today’s plenary, the Prime Mover of the Bill and a member representing Owode-Onire Constituency, Shittu Rukayat Motunrayo urged his colleagues to accord the bill accelerated passage due to its importance in ensuring adequate electricity supply.
Others lawmakers in their contributions also supported the bill, citing its potential to boost local electricity generation and distribution.
The Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihub however referred the Bill to the House Committee on Energy for further legislative processes.
Engineer Danladi-Salihub urged the committee to submit its report to the House as soon as possible.
The bill is aim to improve electricity supply in Kwara State, particularly in areas not covered by the national grid.
It would also enhance local generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the State when passed to law.
