Kwara State Government has spoken of its intention towards discovering hidden talents in the sport sector in the state.
Director of Sports, Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Ibrahim Oladele Bako, stated this at the 2nd edition of Alice Alaba Under 10 Handball Championship Final organized for Primary Schools in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.
Alhaji Bako applauded the zeal of the young handball players and advocated regular training of the pupils to become star players.
Also, the Secretary of the Commission, Mr Aruna Tsado said the just concluded Alice Alaba Under 10 Handball Championship would go a long way in reviving Handball game in the state.
Mr Tsado observed that the pupils that participated in the handball tournament had what it takes to participate in national handball games.
In his submission, Education Secretary, Ilorin West Local Government, Mallam Mahmud Adewole, thanked the organizers for the handball championship and charged the participants to be serious with their studies to enable them excel in their academic pursuit.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Alimi Primary School won this year’s 2nd edition of Alice Alaba Under 10 Handball Championship.
Shaikh Alimi defeated Baptist Primary 2-0 in the final encounter male category of the tournament played at Government High School, Adeta, Ilorin.
In the female category, Baptist Primary School thrashed Shaikh Alimi Primary School 5-4 in a keenly contest match.
Highlights of the event were presentation of trophies and prizes to the outstanding school teams and players.
