Rivers State House of Assembly has resolved to probe the state’s finances during the six-month administration of Ibok-Ete Ibas, who served as sole administrator.
Lawmakers resumed plenary today following the suspension of emergency rule and the restoration of democratic structures in the state by President Bola Tinubu.
At the sitting, the assembly directed Governor Siminalayi Fubara to submit the 2025 appropriation bill for legislative consideration.
The lawmakers also urged the governor to forward a list of commissioner-nominees for screening and confirmation.
The session, presided over by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, held at the conference hall within the legislative quarters, as the assembly complex remains under reconstruction after its demolition earlier this year.
Tinubu had declared emergency rule in Rivers on March 18 following a political crisis stemming from the rift between Governor Fubara and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The president suspended the governor, his deputy Ngozi Nma Odu, and the lawmakers, while appointing Ibas to oversee the state for six months.
