Ilorin Emirate Community at Kwara State University, Malete has congratulated it’s Chairman and the Dean of Faculty of Education, Prof. Abubakar Laro Ibrahim, honoured with Distinguished Academic Leadership Award by Global Skills Hub, United Kingdom in partnership with Southwest Nigeria Excellence Awards.
In a Congratulatory Message signed by the General Secretary of the Association, Dr Abdullahi Bakare said the Global Skills Hub United Kingdom is also the organizer of the Africa Education Summit, the largest annual assembly of thought leaders and education intellectuals on the continent.
Dr Bakare said the organization continues to spearhead transformative projects and advocacy for education, empowerment, and innovation across Africa and beyond.
He pointed out that the Distinguished Academic Leadership excellence awarded is widely regarded as a prestigious recognition for individuals who have shown exceptional leadership, scholarly excellence, and noteworthy contributions to academia and community development.
KWASU Ilorin Emirate Community maintained that receiving such an award places the recipient among the ranks of eminent scholars and leaders who have made impactful strides in their scholarly domains, often influencing education policies, impacting curriculum development, and driving innovation on national and global scale.
The Community posited that the prize symbolizes not only exceptional personal accomplishments but also a devotion to uplifting academic standards and community empowerment.
The General Secretary explained that for their Chairman who is the awardee, this honour affirmed his famed reputation and leadership prowess and emphasized his commitment to excellence, capacity to inspire others, and the profound impact of his past and present efforts on students, colleagues, and society at large.
According to him, it is a global recognition that reflects greatly on his professional stature and served as an enduring evidence to his academic and leadership legacy.
Dr Bakare on behalf of the association congratulated Prof. Abubakar Laro Ibrahim as his excellence honours Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, Southwest and Nigeria at large and God prayed the recipient continues to be an inspiration and a respected voice locally and globally in good health, strength and longevity.
The award is dully deserved….!
Prof Laro is not just superb in academic arena but passionately active in Kwasu Sport Units as well.
I can recall lots of meetings I had with him last year regarding initiatives to catalize sports activities in the institution. Those meetings touches many fields like security and safety for Kwasites .. which prompted the ideal of “Kwasu Joint Combat Sports” ,…the first of it’s kind in all institutions in the state,.., where staff and students can learn self Defense and combat sports.
Recently, Kwasu athletes were lead in person by Prof Laro, along with Director Sports, Mr. Alasinrin and Kwasu Sport committee to ABUAD in Ekiti State for PRE-NUGA. His presence was a great morale booster for the athletes which enabled Kwasu to qualified for NUGA in sports like Taekwondo, Karate athletics and more….!
Prof Laro is indeed a Blessing…!
