Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyelola Ashiru has advocated Communal Vigilance and Non-Kinetic modus operandi to combat security challenges in Kwara State.
Senator Ashiru gave this indication in a chat with men of the pen profession at the just concluded Kwara South Political Hangout themed “Defining Unity of Purpose for Kwara-South Senatorial District” organized by Kwara South G7 held in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
The Senator representing Kwara-South Senatorial District bellyached over the state spate of banditry and kidnapping particularly in Kwara South and North.
The Lawmaker expressed malcontent on elimination of innocent lives by enemies of the state and suggested establishment of Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs to nip the security adversity of the state in the bud.
Senator Ashiru tasked Local Governments to channel wherewithal at their disposal to activate economic activities to reduce crimes in their localities.
The Deputy Senate Leader identified Local Government Administration as the closest to the people, hence the need for their absolute autonomy to achieve the purpose of their creation.
Senator Ashiru opined that Federal Government has critical role to play in according the third tier of government its rightful position of asserting their full emancipation geared towards addressing diverse security issues in the respective territories.
