An 85-year-old resident of Umuleri community in Anambra East LGA, Pa Francis Emeka, has said he does not accept money to vote.
He explained that his stance was shaped years ago after hearing advice from the late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, who urged voters not to sell their votes.
Pa Emeka recalled an incident in the former Northern Region where Azikiwe addressed a crowd, encouraging them to vote with conscience rather than for money.
Since then, he said, he has always participated in elections without collecting any inducement.
He stated that he came out again to vote based on this principle, as 16 political parties contest the governorship seat against the incumbent, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of APGA.
