Kwara Court Sentences Burglar To 8 Years Imprisonment For Breaking Into Law Office of Ex Justice Commissioner, Kamaldeen Ajibade SAN

Kwara State High Court has sentenced one Tunde Balogun to 8 years imprisonment for breaking into the law office of Former Kwara Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kamaldeen Ajibade SAN.
According to the charge sheet, Balogun was arraigned before the Kwara State High Court, presided over by Honourable Justice Haleemah Saleeman, for the offences of Burglary, Criminal Trespass, and Theft, contrary to Sections 287, 356, 348, and 326 of the Penal Code Law.
The Prosecution Team, led by Issa Zakari, a Chief State Counsel, Kwara State Ministry of Justice, presented four witnesses and tendered exhibits marked as Exhibits P1-P13, which included a stabilizer, plasma TV, laptop, and charger, photocopier machine, printing machine, among other stolen items recovered from the defendant.
In his Extra-Judicial statement to the police, admitted by the court as Exhibit P14, Balogun confessed to the alleged crime.
The Security Guard, Matthew Okafor, testified that he caught Balogun in the act and raised an alarm, which led to Balogun’s arrest.
The investigation Police Officer, Inspector Shola Aina, also corroborated the Prosecution witnesses’ testimonies and the defendant’s confession.
After a careful appraisal of oral and documentary evidence, the learned trial Judge found the defendant guilty as charged and sentenced him to 8 years imprisonment.
The case highlights the importance of security measures and the consequences of criminal activities in the state.
