Acting Provost of the College of Arabic and Islamic Studies (CAILS), Dr. Sa’ad Hadi says to empower women with skills, knowledge, and opportunities is one of righteous deeds that uplift entire communities.
Dr Hadi stated this in Ilorin while speaking at the Grand Finale of the three-day 2025 Women Entrepreneurship Day organized by Prime Arts Ango Academy in collaboration with CAILS.
Other partners include the University of Ilorin Microfinance Bank and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
The theme of the programme is entitled: “Empowering Women for Sustainable Economic Growth”.
Dr. Hadi stated that the theme is apt, timely, reflective, and deeply aligned with the Qur’anic tradition that encourages human development, productivity, and self-reliance.
He stated that various sensitization programme was organized on entrepreneurial skills for participants, while insightful presentations were organised on the central role of women in economic transformation.
According to him, there are also practical sessions on creativity, digital entrepreneurship, and ICT-driven business opportunities.
Dr. Hadi explained that the SMEDAN also empowered the women on government support programmes and enterprise development platforms.
He listed them to include Financial literacy, microcredit access, and business record-keeping advice from Unilorin Microfinance Bank, among others.
The Acting provost called for more support from organisation, well-meaning individuals, government agencies, private sector leaders, and philanthropists in ensuring the continuity of such laudable programme.
In her address, the Kwara Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, expressed appreciation to the organisers and particularly the management of CAILS.
She emphasized that the initiative aligns with the vision and objectives of the Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, especially in promoting women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.
Hajia Madibbo-Kawu Kawu pledged the ministry’s full support and commitment towards the advancement of women in entrepreneurship across the state.
The programme provided a platform for women to showcase their skills, learn business strategies, and access opportunities that will enhance their economic stability.
Highpoints of event include exhibitions on foods, products, catering services, arts, creativity and among others.
