Major General Warrah Idris, Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North West (Operation Fansan Yamma), says bandits are under mounting pressure as troops intensify efforts to rescue the schoolgirls abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State.
He made the remark during an on-the-spot assessment of the incident site, where he also received a detailed briefing from the General Officer Commanding 2 Division and Commander Sector 3 OPFY, Major General C. R. Nnebiefe, on ongoing coordinated operations with other security agencies.
The Theatre Commander noted that recent military offensives have significantly weakened the criminal groups responsible for the attack and left them with no safe refuge.
He urged troops to remain alert, sustain pressure, and continue pursuing the perpetrators until all abducted students are safely rescued and reunited with their families.
General Idris reaffirmed confidence in the troops’ capabilities, assuring them that every necessary resource, support system, and operational tool would be provided to ensure the success of the mission.
