Osi Community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State has cautioned neighbouring Igbede community to refrain from encroaching its land.
President, Osi Welfare Association, Arc Olu Joseph Takiti, gave the caution at a press conference organized by Osi Welfare Association and Osi Youth Council to address the false claim by Odowa/Igbede communities over a land area belonging to Osi town in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Arc. Takiti recalled that Igbede community was a compound in Odo-Owa Community but broke away to form its autonomous community.
He urged the populace to disregard the claim of Igbede community that the people of Osi are trespassing on any land, insisting that it is Igbede people that have been found to be trespassing on land belonging to Osi community.
The President of the association called on appropriate authorities to intervene in the land dispute matter to forestall breakdown of law and order.
Arc. Takiti appealed to the people of Igbede community not to take laws into their hands but ventilate their grievances in a competent court of law as civilized members of the society rather resorting to violence.
He emphasized that Osi community does not have boundaries with Igbede community as it only has boundaries with Iloffa community.
The President also debunked the allegation of using military officers or other security agencies to forcefully take over the land by Asiwaju of Osi and Former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Samuel Olajide Afolayan, and described the allegation as false and unfounded.
On his part, Asiwaju of Osi and Former Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Samuel Olajide Afolayan, advocated proper implementation and identification of boundary demarcation between the two communities to guard against impending encroachment.
